My son made up cars
He personally was attracted to building his car for several reasons. The first was that he had an older car that would have been worth very little if he had sold it.
He had gained experience driving it in high performance driving events, and He liked how it drove. The next reason was that he had convinced himself he could slowly build the car, which allowed him to gradually spend his money instead of needing to pay it all up front.
The best reason for his building the car was that he had a little knowledge about working on cars. For him, building a car was a great experience. He learned more about how things in a car work than he could have ever anticipated. It was also a very gratifying (while very frustrating) experience. I love his cars!
